Shenzhen, China – Jinko ESS, the energy storage arm of global solar leader Jinko Solar, today formalized a strategic partnership with Greek energy powerhouse Metlen Group. Signed at Metlen's Athens headquarters, the framework agreement targets the joint deployment of over 3 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of grid-scale energy storage projects across Chile and European markets.
This collaboration builds upon the partners' current flagship initiative in Chile – a 1.6 GWh project where Jinko ESS is supplying its advanced G2 5MWh liquid-cooled energy storage systems. Full delivery for the Chilean project is slated for Q4 2025.

Although Jinko ESS Technology Co., Ltd. was formally established in December 2022, the company's roots in storage extend back to collaborative efforts with industry leaders like CATL starting in 2021. Significant investments in 2023 focused on patent development and establishing proprietary manufacturing capabilities for full-stack solutions – from cells to complete system integration.
"Energy storage represents our second strategic pillar," stated Qian Jing, Global Vice President of Jinko Energy. "Our target is clear: rank among the world's top three energy storage providers within the next three to five years." Jinko's next-generation 5MWh utility-scale system, the Blue Whale-SunTera G2, boasts an 8,000-cycle system lifespan supporting 20-year operation and ultra-low noise emissions below 75dB, positioning it as a leading mass-producible solution.
Qian Jing emphasized the critical synergy between solar and storage: "Solar-plus-storage is the paramount frontier for future growth – the foundational element and ultimate solution." She further highlighted a key industry challenge: "The current scale of energy storage deployment lags behind solar PV development, hindering deeper penetration in mature markets. Once new storage technologies achieve scale and cost reduction, aligning capacity with renewable generation, the pathway for solar market expansion will be clear and unobstructed."
